Digital Technology opens the possibility to involve the visitor in a more profound and complete level in the narrative museography of the museum. The interaction paradigms that are associated allow to complement the contemplative attitude that characterizes the original museographic experience of the visitor with a participative nature centered on his\/her singularity.
\nThe augmented reality technique, allied with the popularity of smartphones, assume greater relevance in the context of museography and expography, because of its capacity to represent and associate digital contents (infography, tridimensional models, legends, diagrams) directly on the physical exhibition space. Thus, the design team has to its disposal a communication strategy that allows contextualizing artifacts and works of the museum in a clearer and more interesting way.<\/p>\n

In the beginning, some of the most representative museographic projects in contemporary museums that use augmented reality will be presented and analyzed, and a short historical overview of the technique will be told.
\nAs a second step, the participants will develop a functional project that consists in crear an smartphone application of augmented reality that allows the visitors to explore a physical artifact exposed in a showcase or a little printed augmented catalogue. The project will be developed with Unity 3D abd Vuforia and programming knowledge will not be required.
\nGet to know the augmented reality technique and its importance as a strategy for the museographic discourse. Develop a practical and functional augmented reality project for smartphone.<\/p>\n

Profile<\/span><\/h4>
[vc_column_text]Professor at the Department of Communication and Arts of the University of Aveiro since 2001, researcher in the area of Interaction Design and Human-Computer Interaction, with particular interest in tangible Media and Mixed Reality.
\nAt the same time develops Digital Art work and Museography projects (ex:Museu do Dinheiro, Museu do Vinho do Porto, Museu de Municipal de Penafiel) in interaction design. He was co-founder and editor of Mimesis Contemporary Art Magazine.
\nGraduated in 1996 in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra, in 2001 obtained the Master degree in Digital Arts at the School of Arts of Porto, Portuguese Catholic University.
