Adrián Lebendiger

Graphic designer and director of commercial art. Ex general director of the Metropolitan Center of Design (CMD) and general director of Cultural Industries and Design, which is linked to the Ministry of Production of the City Government. Promoter and coordinator of the first Argentine incubator for undertakings based on design, industrial, cultural and touristic projects, IncuBA (2001). He promoted and coordinated the election of Buenos Aires as City of Design with the program of the Global Alliance of Creative Cities created by UNESCO.

Wustavo Quiroga

Industrial designer from the National University of Cuyo. As cultural manager, from 2010 to 2011, he coordinated the Design area of the Cultural Center of Spain in Buenos Aires / AECID. Head of Fundación del Interior, an institution specialized in heritage of modern art, design and architecture. Director of MEC (Museo en Construción), a virtual platform for collecting. Curator for COLBO and Jannello Editora, reedition project of modern design. Publisher specialized in arts and design. His most recent publication: Feria de América, Vanguardia Invisible, 2012.

Rubén Fontana

Graphic designer. For 40 years, he has been leading Estudio Fontana Diseño. His graphic work is, among others, in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. From 1987 to 2006, he edited and directed the well-known magazine tipoGráfica, one of the most important in Latin America. He led the Bienal Letras Latinas, that was simultaneously carried out in Bogota, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Lima, Montevideo, San Pablo and Puerto de Veracruz. He is director of the master degree in Typography at Buenos Aires University.

Natalia Campero Romero

Graduate of Graphic Design at University of Pacific in Santiago de Chile, she has been a leading professor for 14 years in Bolivian universities. Among them, UPSA in Santa Cruz and Católica de La Paz, where she founded the undergraduate course in graphic design and visual communication in 2003. She is active in the promotion of graphic design and she was a correspondent for Bolivia in Icograda. Also, she has been the general director of Catalográfica 2002 publications – the first magazine of Illustration and Graphic Design, and coordinator of the 1st Bienal Iberoamericana del cartel in 2003. The past few years, she has been serving as general consul in Miami.

Ruth Klotzel

For 12 years, she was professor of Design Visual Communication at University Center Senacy, which is part of the Foundation Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) in Sao Paulo. In 1989 she co-founded the Association of Graphic Designers of Brazil (ADG-BRASIL) and was the director for four periods. She was a fellow of the Design collegiate body at the Council of Public Politics of Brazilian Ministry of Culture in 2013 and 2014. Now, she is a fellow of the Chairmanship of the Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño. She also participated in the editorial board of Communication Design, a research publication about Design at the Ico-D (International Council of Design) and she is the director of the design studio Estudio Infinito.

 

Giovanni Vannucchi

Designer and architect. Partner of Oz Estratégia + Design, one of the principal consultancies of brand strategy and design in Brazil, which has been recognized for two years as the best design company in the country.  Lecturer and juror for several national and international events. Today, he receives national and international awards like Premios Bienales de la Asociación de Diseñadores Gráficos de Brasil. He founded the Comittee of Design of the Brazilian Association de Packaging (ABRES), one of the founders and  director of Association of Graphic Designers (ADG) and one of the founders of the Brazilian Association of Design Companies (ABEDESIGN). Today, he is director of Institutional Relations of the Association. Also, he is currently serving as design professor of Packaging in the European Institute of Design in Sao Paulo.

Gonzalo Castillo

Designer. He has been designer and design project manager for the Department of Systems at the Faculty of Engineering which is part of Catholic University of Chile. He has also been professor of design in University Diego Portales. In 1986, he founded with three professionals the company Proyectos Corporativos Ltda, today Procorp. Expresident of the Chilean Association of Design Companies, Qvid. In 2005, he founded and in 2007 he led the ChileDiseño awards.

Carlos Hinrichsen

Industrial Designer and Engineering Master. He is senior general coordinator of Engineering-Design at the Engineering School of P. Catholic University of Chile. From 2007 to 2009, he was President of the International Council of Industrial Design Associations (ICSID), of which today, he is senator. He was rewarded woth the distinction “Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland” for his contribution to the development of Design education, innovation and promotion in Chile and Finland. From 1992 to 2010, he was director of the Design School of Duoc UC, Chile. He led projects and initiatives encompassing business, engineering, design, innovation, management and technology in Asia, Africa and Europe. Today, he is design director of the Region of Innovation in Design. Since 2002, he is an honorary member of the Chilean Design Association.

Iván Cortés

Industrial designer. Cofounder and director of the Magazine Proyecto Diseño in Bogota. Through the platform www.proyectod.com and the design desk DdD which he led, he created spaces of concrete spreading design activities in Colombia with an international projection. Proyecto D organizes the design award Lápiz de Acero and formed the group COPLA, composed of jury and winners from 22 categories of the award during 10 editions.

Oscar Pamio

Architect and designer, graduate of the University La Sapienza in Roma, Italia. He has acquired a wide-ranging professional and international portfolio not only as a design advisor, but also as a consultant on the European Union and United Nation Projects (UNDP) for the development of design capacities in several countries in Southern Asia, the Mediterranean and Latin America. In Costa Rica, he founded and led the undergraduate course on Industrial Design at the Technologic Institute of Costa Rica. Later, he was the director of  the Design School of Products in the University of Veritas, which he also led from its opening from 2002 to 2010. Today, he is academic dean in the University of Veritas. In parallel, he is a freelance professional.

Karina Salguero Moya

Costa Rican communicator, graduate in Spanish philology. Her work has been centered priarily around magazines. She also has edited books and historical memoirs. As publisher of the magazine Soho Costa Rica (2004-2009) and Su Casa (2008-2011), she has experience in different styles of magazines, promoting the critical integration of both fundamental speeches of the publishing world: form and content. Today, she participates in, and helps, independent projects. She is publisher of the magazine Orsai de Habitar, Colegio de Arquitectos of Costa Rica and she collaborates for the Central American magazine Rara. She is part of the team of Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo in Costa Rica.

Sergio Luis Peña Martínez

Industrial designer. He has been dean and vice rector of the undergraduate course on Industrial Design. Now he is rector of Instituto Superior de Diseño ISDI de la Habana, where he himself graduated from. Masters Degree in Management and Innovation in Design, Doctorate in Management in Design from the University of Valencia, Spain. As a professor and a professional he has developed courses, projects and advised on Design in Cuba, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain and Venezuela. He has been recognised with these awards Premios Anuales de Diseño de la Oficina Nacional de Diseño of Cuba and el Reconocimiento al Mérito from the Ministry of Economics and the Ministry of Superior Education of the Cuban Republic.

Eviel Ramos

Peter Mussfeldt

Specialized Grafic designer in logos and corporate image. He is a painter, illustrator and engraver. His works are in the Modern Art Museum of New York (MOMA). The past years, he has been specializing in fashion (clothes, tapestries and carpets). He was a professor of Design at Escuela de Bellas Artes in Guayaquil, University Laica of Guayaquil and School of Communication Mónica Herrera of Guayaquil.

Esteban Salgado

He studied at the School of Visual Arts, NYC. He has been the artistic director in several companies in the US, the Caribbean and in Ecuador. He aslo collaborated  on designing Graphis NY magazines and yearbooks. His work has been published in Taschen Latin American Graphic Design, Taschen Packaging Now, Taschen Logo 2, Bastardised (Made in Bunch), and KAK Russia, among others. He has participated in exhibitions in Quito, New York, Ljubljana, Florence, Spain, Mexico and London. Manager of Bienales in poster, graphic design and typography in Ecuador. Juror for the 3rd Bienal for the Cartel in Bolivia, FIAP and Poster for Tomorrow. He was President of the Association of Graphic Designers of Ecuador. He has dictated workshops on the creative process, typography and branding. Now, he is creative director of Velesi Branding, director and founder of Grafitat.com.

 

Marisela Ávalos

Graduate in Graphic Design from the University Dr José Matías Delgado in EL Salvador. Fullbright Intern with a Masters in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois in Chicago, and a Masters in Graphic Design and New Technologies, having studied her undergraduate in Graphical Design at the University of Illinois. Teacher for the program Gallery 37, with Graphic Design speciality. She is the director and professor for the Strategic Design degree at the Mónica Herrera School of Communication  in El Salvador. She has her own design studio where she is consultant in Graphic Design and Editorial Design for Salvadorian organizations and companies.

Alberto Corazón

Designer, sculptor and painter. His work has been displayed in principal cultural and artistic centers in France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Spain and  the United States. Some of his famous designs belong to logos widely known in Spain: ONCE, Anaya, Paradores, RENFE, teléfono Domo, MAPFRE, Junta de Andalucía, Biblioteca Nacional, Casa de América, etc. Among his awards he counts the Nacional de Diseño in 1989 and la Medalla de Plata del American Institute Graphic Arts. In 2006, he became the first designer joining la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.

Manuel Estrada

Designer. Founder and President of Fundación Diseño Madrid (DIMAD) and Executive President of Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño (BID). Specialist in Graphic Design, he stands out in the field of publishing and corporate design. His studio is only the second to receive the Certificado por AENOR for Systems Quality (NormaISO9001) and Medio Ambiente (Environment) (NormaISO14000). Of his outstanding works we can mention the Premios Cervantes, Alianza Editorial, Fundación Repsol and several cover pages of books published by the newspaper El País. He has been recognised with different awards and distinctions, including el Laus, Art Directors Club of Europe and recently the Good Design Chicago 2014. He is a fellow of Consejo de Enseñanzas Artísticas de España.

Pedro Feduchi

Architect and professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, where he teaches “Projects”. He is President of  the Fundación Diseño de Madrid (DIMAD) and fellow of Comité Asesor of the Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño (BID). In his professional studio, his main projects include: architecture, museography, montages of exhibitions and furnitue design. He has worked for various famous cultural institutions of Madrid: Prado Museum, Reina Sofía, Thyssen or Palacio de Cibeles. Recently, he just finished the installation of Museum of la Rioja in Logroño.

Gabriel Martínez

He has studied Philosophy and he is a graduate of Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca. He has taught at EAE Business School Madrid, the University Complutense of Madrid, Instituto Europeo de Design, the Schools of Arts n10 and 12, and Escuela Superior de Diseño of Madrid. Currently he works for the design studios LSDspace and Un Mundo Feliz. He has published three books about design: Pictopía (Promopress 2008). Imagomundi (Promopress 2011), The new Disasters of War (Ruina/Boldbooks 2012). His work has been selected and published all over the world. He has been a commissioner of different expository projects.

Félix Beltrán

Graphic Designer and artist. He is an honorable fellow of the Fundación Diseño Madrid. Head professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana de Mexico and guest professor at the University Altos del Chavón, Dominican Republic. He is an international adviser for the International Conference of Design, Mexico DF, and an International Liaison in Mexico for the Type Directors Club, New York, and National Delegate of Association Typographique Internationale, Paris. In 1988, he founded the Archivo de Diseño Gráfico Internacional, Latin America’s first exhibition on international graphic design.

Oscar Salinas

Industrial Designer, and doctorate of Architecture. He dedicates himself to professional practice, teaching and academic management, as well as research. Currently he leads the Postgraduate Program in Industrial Design at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM). He was president and founder of Colegio de Diseñadores Industriales y Gráficos de Mexico, secretary of the Latin American Association of Industrial Design and vice-president of Academia Mexicana de Diseño. Since 1994, he has worked in and founded Comités Interinstitucionales for the Evaluation of Educación Superior in Mexico (CIEES), in the area of Architecture and Design.

Teresa Camacho

Graduate in Graphic Design from the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (UAM), specialist and Master of Design in New Technologies. She studied psychology of advertising at the University Complutense of Madrid. Her works have been presented during national and international exhibitions, including the International Mail Art, Elite International, Festival Cervantino, Graphic Intervention and Fun-Fan, among others. Since 1994, she has been freelance, with her participation standing out in 1995 as a collaborator for Coordination of Design for Graphic Communication at UAM, as well as her permanent work since 1993 for Félix Beltran and Asociados.

Celeste Prieto

Architect for Universidad Cátolica de Asunción where she has been professor of Visual Perception. She finished her studies in France and now she leads the Celeste Prieto Graphic Studio where works on visual communications at national and international scale.  She is one of the most important role models in Paraguayan graphic design. In 2004, shewas recognised with the Premio Artista del Año by the review Arquitectura, Ingeniería y Arte AIA of Paraguay. As a professor, she has participated in workshops at the Ecole Intuit-Lab in Paris, on the theme of “Ethnodesign in Paraguay”, and in doing such she has iniciated a series of academic cultural exchanges, showing off Paraguayan culture to the world.

 

Marita Quiroz

Graphic designer at the Facultad de Arte de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Perú. She lived 10 years in London, where she worked for the advertising agency SS&L Lintas Worldwide. She also studied a postgrad at Saint Martin’s School of Art. She worked in design and as consultant in typographic development at Monotype Corporationm Surrey,on special request of Microsoft Corporation. She was an artist-in-residence  for the Craft Council Gallery, London, where she participated in the exhibition “The Spirit of the Letter”. Back in Lima, she worked as freelancer and in 1996, she founded Imâgika Diseño e Imagen, of which she is currently the director. She was professor at the Facultad de Arte de la PUCP, in the Facultad de Comunicación of the University of Lima, in the Instituto de Fotografía Antonio Gaudi and recently, in the Centro de la Imagen. She has been a fellow of Comité Consultivo Gráfico y Publicitario of Instituto Toulouse-Lautrec.

Pepe Corzo

Wardrobe designer, set designer and director born in Lima, Peru. In his country, he has designed the wardrobe and set for more than 80 theatric productions, from classic works to experimental ones, which include dramatic pieces, comedies, musicals, modern dance and opera. His most recent works are noteworthy for showing in the Great National Theatre of Peru, The Magic Flute (2013) and Alice in Wonderland (2014) for the National Ballet. In 2000, he began his career in Spain as a wardrobe designer for plays, opera and zarzuela for Opera de Las Palmas and for Centro Drámatico Nacional, Madrid. One of the relevant characteristics of his work is the experimental intervention of textiles with which he then creates wardrobes.

Henrique Cayatte

Graphic designer. President of Centro Portugués de Diseño de Lisboa (CPD) until 2012. He has his own studio, Henrique Cayatte Atelier. Guest professor in the University of Aveiro. He was founder, director of art and graphic editor for the newspaper Público. He has been a design consultant for the plan of Exposición Internacional in 1998 in Lisbon. What’s more, he has been co-author of the system of signposting and communication of the above mentioned event. Designer for the review Egoísta and for the Portuguese newspaper Diário de Notícias and O. He is the designer of the Portuguese flag for Expo 2000 in Hannover (Germany) and for Expo 2005 in Aichi (Japan). Twice, he received, among other awards, the Premio Nacional de Diseño of the CPD.

Francisco Providência

Industrial designer.  Design and poetry are his principal means of expression. Guest professor in the University of Aveiro for the Department of Project Design (1999-2007). He taught at the Facultad de Bellas Artes (FBAUP), Facultad de Arquitecture (FAUP) and Design degree at DECAUA. He opened his studio in 1985 and has been recognised for his professional performance with the Premio Nacional de Diseño, for Communication, Product and Environment of the Centro Portugués de Diseño.

Bárbara Coutinho

Stephen Kaplan

Founder and rector of the Escuela de Diseño de Altos de Chavón in La Romana, Dominican Republic, which is part of the famous Parsons New School for Design of New York, and a reference for the Caribbean zone. Kaplan is president of the Cultural Center of this school and he is the director of Art and Education. He was sub-director of Programas Federales of the Education Department, Brooklyn, New York. He has been consultant for exhibitions of Latin American art in the Center for Caribbean Studies, Americas Society, Rockfeller Foundation and Pollack-Krasner Foundation.

Álvaro Heizen

Industrial designer. Director of Kairos&Cronos, studio specializing in product development, graphics and multimedia. He was recognised with the award of the Bienal Internacional de Diseño of Herman Miller (1996) and with 3rd  place award of the Concurso Mercosur de Integración Productiva en Muebles (2007), among other awards. He has been juror for several design competitions about furniture and professor of Industrial Design at LAB 03-Diseño, organized by the Cultural Center of Spain (2003). He is on the managerial commission of Asociación de Diseñadores Industriales y Textiles (1999-2001) and on the Asociación Nacional de Micro y Pequeñas Empresas (1998-2004). He is part of the managerial group of Conglomerado de Diseño and is the director of the Cámara de Diseño in Uruguay. Since 2006, he has been integrating the co-governmental bodies of the Centro de Diseño Industrial.

Ignacio Urbina

Industrial designer, specialist in Bionics for the Laboratorio de Design Industrial and Master of Engineering of Products from Universidad Federal de Santa Catarina. He was designer and researcher for Laboratorio Brasileiro de Design Industrial in Florianópolis. He was coordinator of Industrial Design for Secretaría Nacional de Diseño y Arquitecture. He was also prodesign director in the Escuela de Comunicación Visual y Diseño in Venezuela. What’s more, he was fellow of the design office Metaplug and co-editor of Objetual, a website specialized in design. He coordinated the Design Team of Museographic Devices for the Flag Andino Amazonico in Japan, Aichi, 2005. He was director of Design for several projects of products and objects and guest professor in national and international universities. Today, he develops independent projects, he is editor of www.di-conexiones.com and finally, he is associated professor for the Department of Industrial Design of Pratt Institute in New York.

Álvaro Sotillo

Graphic designer. He has been designer for Museum of Bellas Artes in Caracas. She is one of the founders of the School of Visual Communication Prodesign. She was recognised with several awards in German competitions, like three Gold Letters (1985, 1999, 2008), the highest award of the competition “The most beautiful books in the world”, organized by Stiftung BuchKunst. In March 2005, she was recognised with the Gutenberg award of Leipzig. Since 1997, he has been a fellow of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI). Today he is working for Laboratory of Typography in Caracas (LABTIPCCS). He is also working in his design studio Visión Alternativa (VACA).

Carolyn Aldana

Lawyer and fashion designer, trained in event production and image-making. Specialist in higher education for non-teaching professionals, she has been a lecturer for 6 years in the Instituto de Diseño Centro Gráfico de Tecnología. Today, she is the academic director of the institute, dictating several professorships. She is part of the Circle of Design of Maracay, she has published several research articles and designs for websites and reviews. She has often organized collective exhibitions and fashion events. Fellow of Comité Académico del Congreso Latinoamericano de Diseño in Buenos Aires Argentina. Creator of the Project Venezuela Collhunting, she collaborates with the Museum of Design and Print Carlos Cruz Diez in Caracas.
